Your application is your business card!
It is worth preparing your application properly and investing an appropriate amount of time in it.
Send us a supporting letter setting out why you are applying for an apprenticeship with Kapsch. Put together your CV so that it is brief, comprehensible and with full details, add a photo, attach your last two school reports and any certificates confirming attendance on extra courses or training.
Tips for your written application
The application documents
Your application is the first thing that your possible future employer sees about you. You should be aiming to present the information that’s relevant for the employer in as appealing and comprehensive a manner as possible. The full set of your application documents should include the following:
- A personal letter / Supporting letter
- A table containing your CV
- School reports / Work reports / Apprenticeship reports / Work placement reports
- Any other reports held
- Certificates / Documents confirming additional qualifications
The letter
Your personal letter (max. 1 side) should be set to be very appealing and easy to read. Arouse interest, but without exaggerating - that's how to give the best reason why we should invite you to an entrance test and presentation interview. Remember! An employer is generally going to take no more than a minute to look through your documents when making the initial selection for interview. Convince us in your letter why you in particular are the right person, suitable for starting an apprenticeship with us. In the letter, you should answer the following questions for us (and for yourself):
- Why are you interested in this apprenticeship?
- Why do you want to start an apprenticeship with Kapsch in particular?
- Why have you decided on this career, and what ideas do you have about your future career
and further development?
Your CVYour CV, set out as a table in chronological order, should tell us all the key information about your career through school and training. Take good care over this, paying attention to spelling and to how it looks!
Concentrate on the essentials!
- Your CV needs to be short, but very strong in what it says about you – maximum 2 pages
- Concentrate on the essential information.
- In addition to your career through school and training, it is also of interest to include
particular hobbies or activities.
Tip: to be sure you are on the right track, get parents or friends to give you feedback on your CV. That way you can find out whether the content is set out clearly and the wording easy to understand.
Tips on the aptitude test
The test
If your documentation makes a convincing case to us, you will be invited to come for an aptitude test. This is a written test with general questions and on subjects that you are sure to have learned in school. If you are amongst the best performers here, you will be invited to a presentation interview, together with a responsible adult to accompany you.
Tips for the presentation interview
The personal interview
The thoughts you had when considering the questions for the personal letter can be used to very good effect during the presentation interview. It means that you have already gathered information about the company, and have concrete ideas about the career that interests you. Using this, you can easily explain why you would like to work with us and train for this particular job. You should think of the presentation interview as an exchange of information, and one where a realistic self-presentation is very important.
One small tip: try running through your interview beforehand with someone you trust, and that way it's bound to be so much easier second time around.
And of course, you can also get an insight from us about the training and how it works, and you will get to know the company better.
You can apply from now until April online via
e-mail or you can submit your application by post.
