Innovation Day 2008

Innovation Day 2008

In its innovation, Kapsch TrafficCom is always one step ahead, contributing decisively to optimising urban and extra-urban road traffic with intelligent solutions.

Each year, the Innovation Day sees a jury honouring selected in-house innovation projects.

The Innovation Day 2008 was held on 25 February at Tech Gate Vienna.

There were ten nominations cited, and from these four Kapsch TrafficCom employees were awarded prizes by the Board.

In his speech, the Board Chairman recalled the success of Kapsch TrafficCom, which was itself the result of a typical “breakthrough” innovation:

  • A small number of people with a creative idea and an absolute desire to see it implemented
  • An understanding of customer needs, technology and business cases
  • Space in which to operate afforded by a management that embraces ideas and risk
All of the speakers emphasised the importance for the company of the ideas contributed, and invited numerous other suggestions from all areas of the company’s work. Innovation is intended to, and will continue to, contribute directly and in a lasting manner to the success of the company, something which is wholly in tune with the Kapsch values:
  • Freedom
  • Taking up and using the space to operate
  • A love of dynamism
  • Securing our future
“Innovation projects generally come about from ideas contributed by staff,” says Kapsch Traffic Com Innovation Manager Martin Eder. “These are communicated verbally or in writing to Innovation Management, where they are evaluated against certain criteria and then undergo a “maturing process” through two further phases. In the best-case scenario, this results in a business plan, on which the company management can take a decision based on the research and analyses. The aim is not to have a competition for ideas, but to expand and diversify the Kapsch TrafficCom range of products and solutions.”
